Kayak Fishing in Selvin Indiana

Kayak Fishing in Selvin Indiana can be very rewarding. One place to kayak fish in Selvin Indiana is at Yellow Banks Lake. Yellow Banks Lake offers good large mouth bass fishing, crappie fishing, blue gill fishing, catfish and more. There is decent cover, many sunken fir trees and different topography among the lake. There is not really a boat ramp, but there is an old concrete launch that has seen better days. You can launch a small boat, kayaks, paddle boats and more. There is a small fee to fish unless you own property in Yellow Banks Lake.

Yellow Banks Lake is coming back!

CHRISTINE STEPHENSON of the Dubois County Herald writes:

When Jason Powers imagines Yellow Banks Lake this summer, he imagines it restored to its former glory, with swimming, camping and its old famous ice cream. To people in Warrick County and beyond, Yellow Banks Lake is an institution. It’s the backdrop to decades of memories made with family and friends. “There’s a lot of nostalgia there,” Powers said. “When I came in there, I saw that it was just this amazing piece of property with an amazing history.” Full Article

I love Yellow Banks Lake and I certainly hope it IS returned to it’s former glory for many more to enjoy for years to come. Like them on Facebook! The ice cream WAY back in the day was absolutely amazing! We would swim all day, then get an ice cream with the money Grandpa had dropped behind us to our surprise.

The Lee Family Camp has been one of our family properties since the late 1960’s. Grandpa Lee used to live there and I have very fond memories of going to camp at Yellow Banks Lake in Selvin Indiana. We spent many summer days there bass fishing, boating, swimming at the beach and so much more. Trips to camp haven’t changed much in 50 years and, for that, I am grateful. It’s a laid back, relaxing vibe that rests your soul.

Sweatin’ to the Oldies!

The Lee Family Camp needed some love though. So, my Pops and I got started and many others pitched in over the summer of 2013 restoring our lil section of Yellow Banks back to a place for family fun.

We spent the whole summer and fall adding a new storage shed, new steps down to the fire pit landing, fixed the canopy, new laminate floors inside, new plumbing, and so much more. It was hot and miserable that summer and we had many tests of strength, but in the end, it all paid off.

In Conclusion

Camp was restored back to its old glory! The classic Spartan Imperial Mansion was shiny, clean, refreshed and was more comfortable than ever. The interior of the old Spartan is just amazing! All curved wood, hand done, old school, were it lasts for years and years. We hung outdoor lights and added solar lights to really bring an ambiance while roasting marshmallows on the fire, grilling some burgers and dogs or just kicking back with a cold one and letting the good times roll.
