Quarter Hill

The Louis Kuntzman trade token was found on Quarter Hill. Quarter Hill is a location I named, as such, due to the enormous amount of clad quarters coming off the hill at the local high school on the home team side of the football stadium. This location was once the fairgrounds in Boonville, IN way back in the late 1800’s in Warrick county. I found an image/map of the ancient fairgrounds. This is now where the local high school stands. The horse track, in the map, is now where the track and field track is at the high school built in 1958.

Friday Night Lights at Boonville High School, Boonville Indiana

Quarter Hill is always jammed packed full of football fans for Friday Night Lights. For years this area has been untouched and makes metal detecting a pure delight. The Minelab Equinox 800 metal detector and the Garrett Pro Pointer AT pin pointer have no troubles whatsoever finding amazing treasures. From modern to historic! An 1891 seated liberty dime, war nickels, rare Victorian relics and many more incredible metal detecting finds have come off of Quarter Hill. I am truly blessed to be able to have this location as one of my favorite dig sites! To date, I have recovered over 600 modern quarters.

This Louis Kuntzman trade token is one of my most BELOVED treasures in my first 2 years metal detecting. It is about the size of a quarter and is VERY VERY thin! It appears to be gold gilt and says “Louis Kuntzman, Good for 1 Loaf Bread”. The backside is plain and has no details at all that can be determined at this point. I was not recording on the day of this treasure find, so there is no live dig footage. CLICK HERE for other live digs! I found this trade token very near where the 1891 liberty dime was discovered.
